15 AQI stations maxed out at 500
In Delhi, 15 air quality monitoring stations hit the maximum AQI value of 500, meaning pollution was so bad that the sensors couldn’t measure any higher. This happened on a day when the city’s average AQI was about 494, one of the worst levels in recent years. Very high levels of harmful fine particles (PM2.5) were recorded, much above safe limits. Experts said this shows how dangerous the air was for health, especially for children, elderly people and those with breathing problems.
