Electric vehicle registrations in Delhi rose by 29% to about 1.07 lakh in 2025–26. However, petrol and petrol-ethanol vehicles still made up the largest share, growing to around 6.21 lakh, showing that traditional fuel vehicles continue to dominate despite the rise in EVs.

As Delhi battles severe air pollution every year, environmental experts have said that while emergency measures like the Graded Response Action Plan (GRAP) provide temporary relief, they have failed to address the root causes.
