Centre asks OEMs to audit connected vehicles' software

The Indian government has directed automotive and component manufacturers to thoroughly audit the software and devices used in connected cars and electric vehicles (EVs). This move follows critical security concerns, including the recent banning of three apps that exploited vulnerabilities to remotely hijack battery management systems and disable EVs. While the ministry has not set a strict deadline, it has urged companies to fix default factory settings, weak passwords, and unsecured over-the-air pathways to protect vehicles from hacking risks.
