Delhi sees lower air pollution levels this October

Delhi recorded a notable improvement in air quality this October, with average concentrations of major pollutants—including PM2.5, PM10, nitrogen dioxide, carbon monoxide, and ozone—dropping compared to previous years. Official monitoring data from the CPCB and CAQM shows that average PM2.5 levels fell to 67 µg/m³ this October, down from 108 µg/m³ in the same period last year.

However, despite this drop, pollutant levels still regularly exceed safe national ambient standards. Because air quality is heavily reliant on weather conditions such as wind speed, temperature, and humidity, the arrival of colder winter meteorology could trap emissions near the ground and trigger rapid spikes in pollution over the coming months.
