Delhi’s air quality deteriorates after short reprieve

The air quality in Delhi dropped sharply after a brief improvement, with the Air Quality Index reaching 303 and falling into the “very poor” category.

This decline is linked to a change in wind direction that carried more pollution from crop‐residue burning in neighbouring states into the city.

Wind speeds remained low, limiting how much the pollutants could disperse, and forecasts suggest the air quality will stay very poor over the coming days.
