Dense Fog and PM2.5 Surge Drive Delhi Air Quality into ‘Very Poor’ Zone

Delhi’s air quality became much worse recently because of a combination of dense fog and a sharp rise in tiny pollutant particles (PM2.5). The city’s Air Quality Index (AQI) climbed into the “very poor” category, meaning the air is unhealthy, especially for children, older people and those with breathing problems. The fog trapped polluted air close to the ground, stopping it from clearing and increasing health risks. Officials say that wind speeds may rise in the coming days, which could improve the pollution levels somewhat.
