Pollution spikes this year turned transit and construction hubs into ‘red zones’, reveals study
A new study found that some busy transport and construction areas in Delhi became pollution “red zones” during major pollution spikes in early 2026. While average pollution levels and nitrogen dioxide fell slightly compared with last year, dangerous PM2.5 pollution remained high, and Delhi continued to miss World Health Organization air quality standards on most days.
