Run DG pumps daily to prep for rains: Delhi PWD

The article says that Delhi’s Public Works Department (PWD) has ordered daily testing of diesel generator (DG) pumps to prepare for the monsoon and possible flooding. The pumps and backup generators must be ready in case of power cuts during heavy rain.

Some people have criticised the move because the government is also trying to cut fuel use and pollution. However, the PWD says the DG sets are only a temporary safety measure and that cleaner electric systems are also being introduced.

Experts agree that while emergency pumping is necessary, Delhi should focus on long-term solutions such as better drainage and cleaner power backups instead of relying heavily on diesel generators.
