Sharp PM2.5 surge after 10pm on Diwali in Gurgaon, Sector 51 tops
On Diwali night in Gurgaon, pollution spiked to extremely dangerous levels. The level of PM2.5 - a very harmful fine particle - peaked at 16 times the national safety limit and 63 times the WHO guideline in one area. The worst surge happened after 10 pm, which is after the Supreme Court's time restriction for fireworks. The hazardous air lingered into the next morning, posing serious health risks to residents.
