Think tank uses satellite data to map ward-wise heat surge in Delhi over 10 years
A think tank used satellite data to study how different parts of Delhi have become hotter over the last 10 years.
They found that many local areas (wards) are heating up, mainly because green spaces like parks and water bodies are being replaced by buildings and concrete.
Some places have seen a sharp rise in surface temperature, showing that heat is not evenly spread but concentrated in certain neighbourhoods.
The study suggests the government should make local plans—such as increasing greenery and using better building materials—to deal with rising heat and protect people from extreme conditions.
