Transport sector contributed 10.65% to pollution on Sunday
Data from the Decision Support System (DSS) shows that on Sunday the transport sector contributed 10.65 % of Delhi’s air pollution, making it one of the significant sources of harmful emissions in the city. Peripheral industries and nearby towns like Sonipat and Gautam Budh Nagar also added to the pollution. The average Air Quality Index (AQI) worsened to 440 (severe). DSS forecasts suggest that the transport share may rise further in the coming days, and industrial contributions are also expected to grow. Experts said low wind speeds and polluted air coming from neighbouring industrial areas meant harmful particles stayed trapped over the city. Some residents and groups urged stronger pollution control measures to protect public health.
