Visibility drops across city; six areas in ‘poor’ AQI zone, Sion with ‘cleanest’ air

Mumbai experienced thick haze on Tuesday, causing poor visibility. The city’s average AQI was 172, which is considered moderate, but six localities recorded poor air quality. Chakala-Andheri East had the worst air at 255, while Sion reported the cleanest air with an AQI of 67. Experts say uneven pollution distribution and low wind speed caused pollutants to remain trapped between tall buildings. Temperatures also dropped slightly, with Santacruz recording a minimum of 21.9°C, nearly 2°C below normal.
