Delhi gasps as budget to combat pollution lowered

India’s 2026–27 budget has cut the money set aside for pollution control to about Rs 1,091 crore, which is less than last year’s revised amount, even as Delhi-NCR and other polluted regions continue to suffer poor air quality. Experts say this reduction weakens efforts to fight toxic air and that stronger funding and targeted action are needed.
