Delhi-NCR Pollution: SC Clears GRAP Rejig, Stricter Curbs to Kick In at Lower AQI Levels
According to the Supreme Court of India, the air-pollution emergency plan for the National Capital Region has been revised so that stricter restrictions under the Graded Response Action Plan (GRAP) will now come into force at lower air-quality levels.
For example:
Measures previously reserved for Stage 4 will now begin at Stage 3 (AQI 401-450).
Stage 3-level curbs will kick in at Stage 2 (AQI 301-400).
And rules for Stage 2 will apply as early as Stage 1 (AQI 201-300).
Additionally, the Commission for Air Quality Management (CAQM) has been asked to consult all stakeholders and to consider postponing outdoor school sports in November and December when air-quality is poor.
