Delhi plans 215 fixes to ease jams at 62 traffic hot spots
The Delhi government is implementing 215 targeted fixes to ease severe traffic jams at 62 identified hot spots across the city, such as areas near Safdarjung Hospital and the Punjabi Bagh roundabout. So far, 83 interventions are complete, with 50 more scheduled within six months, aiming to clear about 35 congestion points by year's end. Specific measures include relocating markets, removing road encroachments, creating parking spaces, and exploring flyovers. While this focused approach is a positive step, experts caution that sustained improvement requires parallel upgrades to public transport and walkable infrastructure to reduce overall vehicle use and emissions.
