Delhi Records Most Polluted January Day in Two Years Amid Severe Air Quality

Delhi recorded its most polluted January day in two years, with the air quality index (AQI) rising into the “severe” category. On Sunday, the AQI averaged around 440, far above safe levels, as calm winds and weather conditions trapped pollutants in the air. This made it the worst air quality for the second half of January since 2019 and the city’s first “severe” air day of the year. Meteorologists also forecast fog and light rain in the coming days, which may bring some slight improvement.
