Delhi’s NO2 levels 3 times the safe limit at hot spots
In parts of New Delhi, nitrogen dioxide (NO₂) levels have reached about three times the national safe limit of 80 µg/m³. Busy traffic spots such as ITO Crossing, the airport zone and North Campus Delhi University had readings of up to 240 µg/m³. Experts say the main cause is vehicle emissions, especially in winter when low winds trap gases close to the ground. Health specialists warn prolonged exposure may cause coughing, wheezing and worsen asthma.
