Farm fires’ share in Delhi’s PM 2.5 down to 3.5% this year: CPCB

According to the Central Pollution Control Board (CPCB), crop-residue burning (farm fires) contributed only a small share — about 3.5 per cent — to Delhi’s PM2.5 air pollution this year, much lower than in the previous year. This suggests that other sources of pollution, such as vehicles, industry and local emissions, are playing a larger role in the city’s poor air quality. Experts say tackling pollution will require broader action beyond just reducing farm fires.
