GRAP modified to bring stricter steps in earlier stages to tackle bad air

New, stricter anti-pollution rules, known as the Graded Response Action Plan (GRAP), have been introduced to tackle Delhi's severe air quality crisis.

The key measures now include:

  • A ban on coal and firewood in restaurants, hotels, and open eateries.

  • Older, more polluting diesel buses are being removed from the roads in Delhi and the surrounding National Capital Region (NCR).

  • Authorities are being instructed to enforce these rules strictly to improve the city's dangerous air pollution levels.

In short, the government is taking stronger steps to fight the toxic smog in and around Delhi.
