GRAP modified to bring stricter steps in earlier stages to tackle bad air

Experts believe that Delhi needs stronger and more consistent enforcement of GRAP rules to fight dangerous air pollution levels. The government has shifted stricter actions to the early stages of GRAP so that pollution can be controlled before it becomes severe. From Stage I, authorities will send public alerts, improve public transport, manage traffic better, and discourage the use of diesel generators. Offices may operate with fewer staff and allow work-from-home in the early stages. Experts say Delhi needs year-round efforts rather than temporary emergency actions.
