Highest AQI for Jan in 2 yrs, city breathes joint worst air on record for 2nd half of first month

Delhi recorded its highest January air pollution levels in two years, with the Air Quality Index staying in the severe category for several days. The city experienced the joint worst air quality ever recorded for the second half of January. Experts said calm winds, high emissions from vehicles and construction, and unfavourable weather conditions worsened pollution levels. Although a slight improvement was expected, air quality was still likely to remain very poor in the coming days.
