A thick blanket of polluted air covered New Delhi, with air quality becoming extremely bad. Because the smog was so dangerous, the city’s government closed all primary schools and moved classes online to protect young children’s health. The decision came as pollution levels stayed very high and made it risky for pupils to be outside or go to school normally.
