Primary schools empty as smog persists in Indian capital

In New Delhi, primary schools were empty because they were shut after a thick, choking smog hung over the city. The poor air quality forced authorities to close schools, ban older diesel vehicles and stop construction, but the smog stayed heavy and dangerous to breathe.
