Kerala charges ahead of bigger states in 2025 personal EV adoption

Kerala has emerged as one of the leading Indian states in personal electric vehicle (EV) adoption in 2025, recording among the highest EV penetration rates and the largest share of private electric four-wheelers compared with other major states. The state’s EV penetration stood close to that of Delhi, driven by strong sales of both two-wheelers and four-wheelers, a widespread charging network and rising consumer awareness. Major EV brands such as Ather Energy, Bajaj Auto, TVS Motor and Tata Passenger Electric Mobility have led the increase in sales. Experts say higher income levels, policy support and broad charging infrastructure have helped Kerala’s EV growth.
