May Lift Ban But…: Supreme Court Hints at Diwali Firecracker Window In Delhi-NCR
The Supreme Court has suggested that it might partially lift the ban on firecrackers in Delhi–NCR during Diwali. A bench led by Justice B. R. Gavai hinted at allowing a limited window for bursting crackers under strict conditions. The court heard arguments from both sides and has reserved its final order.
This possible relaxation could mean that only green firecrackers, approved by authorised agencies, will be allowed for a short duration during the festival. However, the court also made it clear that pollution control remains a priority, and any misuse or violation of the permitted window could invite strict action.
In short, the court appears open to balancing festive celebrations with environmental safety, allowing fireworks for a brief period while keeping air quality concerns in view.
