Delhi is heating up quickly, with average land surface temperatures rising by nearly 3°C in March over the past 11 years, according to a new satellite-based study.

Over the past 10 years, parts of Delhi have become much hotter, with ground temperatures rising by up to 6°C in some areas. This rise is not the same everywhere—some neighbourhoods are far hotter than others, creating “local heat pockets.

Over the last 10 years, land surface temperatures in several areas of Delhi have been rising rapidly.

The city recorded a ‘satisfactory' air day for the second day in a row with an Air Quality Index (AQI) of 99 on Sunday.
