Traffic rush, pollution affecting life expectancy in Lucknow
A new report says heavy traffic and air pollution in Lucknow are seriously affecting people’s health and life expectancy. The study shows that residents may have lost up to 6.5 years of their lives due to high PM2.5 levels caused mainly by traffic congestion and vehicle emissions. Peak traffic is seen every day between 5 pm and 8 pm, while daytime hours also remain highly congested. The report adds that people depend more on private vehicles than public transport, which worsens pollution.
