Why air quality numbers in Delhi vary widely

Different weather stations in Delhi often show very different air pollution levels.

This happens for a few main reasons:

  • Location: A monitor near a busy road will show much higher pollution than one in a big park.

  • Type of Monitor: Different machines use different methods to measure the pollution, which can give slightly different results.

  • What They Measure: Some monitors track all tiny particles, while others ignore the larger dust particles, leading to different numbers.

So, the varying numbers don't mean the data is wrong; they just show how pollution changes from one local area to another.
