Why India is not able to fully use the solar power it generates

India is producing much more solar power than before, but it cannot use all of it. The main reason is that the country does not have enough transmission lines to carry electricity from solar farms to places where it is needed. As a result, some solar power is wasted.

Another problem is that solar energy is generated during the day, but electricity demand often remains high after sunset. India still lacks enough battery storage systems to save solar power for use at night, so coal power often fills the gap.

Experts say India needs to build more transmission infrastructure and invest in large-scale battery storage. Without these improvements, the country may struggle to make full use of its growing solar capacity and meet its clean energy goals.
