Farmers in Punjab recycle crop waste, aim to reduce pollution
In more than 800 villages of Punjab, farmers are using balers to collect crop stubble and send it to factories instead of burning it.
The collected stubble is being converted into products like biogas, bio-fertiliser, and cardboard, with help from the Confederation of Indian Industry (CII).
However, while this practice is reducing stubble burning, experts say there is still a lack of sufficient awareness and incentives for it to become widespread.
Some farmers, like one from Sangrur district, are even setting up factories to process the stubble — creating jobs and helping clean the air.
