CM Rekha Gupta Unveils 6 Air Monitoring Stations in Delhi

The Delhi government has announced two new actions to tackle persistent air pollution:

  • New Monitoring Stations: Six new continuous air monitoring stations have been opened in locations like JNU, IGNOU, and sports complexes in Akshardham and Dwarka.

  • New Enforcement Initiative: A new 'Vayu Rakshak' fleet of 36 vehicles (with plans for 100) has been launched to monitor and enforce pollution control rules on the ground.

However, the move has been criticised by environmental experts. They argue that placing the new stations mostly in cleaner, green areas will give a misleadingly positive average for Delhi's air quality on paper, without tackling pollution in the most affected industrial and densely populated areas.
